Doing Hard Things | Learn To Earn - Issue 006
Hello, amazing person,
Glory Praise, here again, your paddy in this web3 space. Before diving into the main topic of this newsletter, I want to give a special shoutout to the amazing Blessing Chika. I had the pleasure of meeting her at the Starknet Event, which I mentioned in last week's newsletter, and she encouraged me to keep writing because she reads every issue I publish. Amazing right? Thank you, Blessing Chika. And a huge thank you to you, yes, you for always reading my newsletters (and watching my videos😁).
🌱 What’s New?
Reflecting on the event from last weekend, one significant lesson I learned—and I believe everyone should learn and understand, especially in the web3 space—is the concept of “Doing Hard Things.”
This concept means that the greatest benefits or rewards are reserved for those courageous enough to venture down less common paths and confront challenging tasks that others tend to avoid.
For instance, when entering the Web3 space, you are faced with numerous career path options. While it may be tempting to opt for the highly popular choices, there are certain roles that many overlook, yet these roles offer the most substantial rewards.
Another angle to think about is: that even within the most common roles, there are different levels of expertise. Individuals who dedicate themselves to expanding their knowledge and mastering their chosen roles are generally better compensated.
Picking the trendy path is, in my opinion, the primary reason why certain fields become oversaturated with talented individuals. However, even amidst this oversaturation, a select group manages to stand out. These are the individuals who push themselves further, deeply grasp the fundamentals, and invest more heavily in their roles.
Even when it comes to being paid your worth, I have learned that the ability to charge more and receive more increases with the amount of time and effort invested in developing your skills. On the flip side, asking for more without good results could be seen as being greedy. For example, someone with four years of core experience or deeper knowledge in a field would naturally command a higher salary than someone who merely completed a few courses in the same field with a weak portfolio. You get it, right?
I honestly think that, beyond money, no matter what path you choose, aiming to be the best by working hard to get better is key. Even if the path looks tough, with time and practice, you will get better at it.
I hope this has inspired you in some way.
PS: Special thanks to Godspower Eze for his enlightening talk, which served as the inspiration for this week's newsletter.
Stay motivated and see you at the top!
